Typical Cats
Released February 2001

Conceived within the lair of Chicago's legendary WHPK Wednesday Night Rap Show, the group known as Typical Cats deliver one of those rare hip-hop albums that hits hard in all aspects of the culture. Consisting of MCs Qwel, Qwazaar and Denizen Kane (Dennis Kim of I Was Born With Two Tongues) and producer/DJ Natural, the Typical Cats album is a record that is nothing short of straight up hip hop—provocative lyricism, original concepts, and the raw energy you would expect from three of the most promising emcees in Chicago.

“ The chemistry between the three emcees is nearly impeccable. Interestingly enough, one may need to hear the solo efforts from each of the rappers to realize how smoothly they work together. ..”
- HipHopInfinity.com

“…far from typical. Qwel is the punchline-happy battle rapper, Qwazaar is the savage, "you're gonna get punched in the eye with the mic" type of rapper, and denizen kane is the poetic, often deep rhymer. Together, they form a dope all-around group…” - Omnimix.com

“…thought-provoking verses that will blow your wig back…”
- DIYhiphop.com

“ It takes you back to early ’90s, pre-sample clearance days of hip-hop … cats striving for simplicity in the increasingly stratified hip-hop world. Everything old could be new again.”
- Pulse! Magazine

“From battling to spoken word poetry, acapella style. Youíve got to love the variety delivered…”
- LOOSE CANNON!
Ugsmag.com

“…(Natural’s) patchwork of jazzy licks, soul shadings, and old-school breakbeats does the job with class.…”
- Chicago Reader

“…The only thing 'typical' about this album is that it's another impressive release from Chicago's Galapagos4.…”
- UrbanSmarts

“…Some really laid back jazzy production (appropriate coming from the city where blues came from) topped with some stellar mic control from Qwel, Qwaazar, and Denizen… ”
- RiceBowlRatings.com

“…gradually solid and more than advisable. And must inevitably belong to your first batch of discs. … ”
